A second coordination workshop took place on March 31 and April 1st 2012, in Niamey, capital of Niger, in the framework of the project on "Risk Assessment in Niger Republic and on Niger-Nigeria border", jointly conducted by IFRA-Nigeria and LASDEL-Niamey. This second meeting was hosted by LASDEL, who made its facilities available for our research team.
On this occasion, Dr. Ila Ahmed, a political scientist affiliated to LASDEL, joined the team. He will study issues related to State infrastructures and access to basis services (Research direction 2, Risks related to the fragility of the State).
This two-day workshop enabled scholars to present the progress of their respective works, to review the existing literature and finalize their research directions and methodology. During the meeting, fieldwork-related issues were also discussed as the end of the workshop also signaled the beginning of the fieldwork period which will end by the beginning of July. Finally, this meeting helped to reinforce the common dynamic of the group, as well as relationships between team members.
