The next session of our seminar will take place on Sunday 13 March at 11:00 am.
It is our pleasure to welcome Anne-Laure Mahé’s presentation on “Visualizing development: local traditions, global modernities”.
Analyzing a development program implemented between 2013 and 2019 in North Kordofan, this presentation will question the representations and conceptualizations of development that were invoked and produced by this policy. It will interrogate how local traditions are mixed with the standardised and globalised discourse and imagery of development and aid to produce a specific, yet familiar, way to think about modernity.
Anne-Laure Mahé is East Africa research fellow at the IRSEM (Paris).
