The School for Advanced Studies in Social Sciences (EHESS) and the Fondation Maison des sciences de l'homme (FMSH) are happy to invite you to the launch of the international network of researchers facing extreme violence.
The effects of extreme violence on those who study them is tied to the phenomenon of extreme violence itself. It is one of its consequences, not only collateral, but, moreover, functional. These forms of violence don’t stop at the limits of the martyred bodies: they affect the social body itself, that of the community targeted, and finally, those who approach them through their research.
Often neglected, the deflecting impact of extreme violence are not only psychological or traumatic, or due to individual weaknesses: they are an integral part of studying extreme violence, and yet, the social sciences rarely approaches them as such. The research program of Riceve aims at questioning these effects of extreme violence altogether.
