The CEDEJ Khartoum and the University of Khartoum offer two one year-doctoral scholarships to PhD candidates in Social Sciences and Humanities.

Eligibility:

Applicants must be registered as PhD candidates at the University of Khartoum. This scholarship does not cover the registration fees at the University of Khartoum. The scholarship is open to candidates in Social Sciences and Humanities: Sociology, Geography, Political Science, Anthropology, Economy and Law.

Description:

This scholarship is the result of a partnership between the University of Khartoum and the Center of Studies and Documentation in Economy, Law and Social Sciences (CEDEJ) in Khartoum. The scholarship lasts 12 months and allows students to do their research activities under the best possible conditions. The gross monthly scholarship amount is 2000 SDG. The two successful candidates will also have access to a workspace at the CEDEJ and to the documentation center. They will have to present the progress of their research twice a year in PhD seminars organized in CEDEJ or at the University of Khartoum.

Application and Selection:

Candidates have to apply before February 18th, 2016. A detailed CV, a motivation letter and a research PhD project (5 to 8 pages) must be sent by email to cedejkhartoum@gmail.com. Applications have to be written in English. Minimal knowledge of English is therefore required. The scholarships will start around mid-March 2016.

– Political Islam and processes of radicalization
– Urban studies
– Migrations
– Political Economy

– Dr Ibtissam Satti, University of Khartoum
– Dr Katarzyna Grabska, Project Coordinator at the Global Migration Centre in the Graduate Institute in Geneva

After a pre-selection, candidates will be interviewed by the selection committee a few days after the application deadline.
