WikiNigeria is a scholarly, non-political, not-for-profit collaborative project of IFRA-Nigeria and its network of graduate fellows and faculties, all highly qualified specialists of Nigeria. It aims at preparing summary files/overviews/analyses and prospective comments on issues at stake in contemporary Nigeria.

WikiNigeria will serve as reference material on social, economic, technical, scientific, political as well as cultural current issues to stakeholders, decision makers, scholars as well as the general public. Entries would be strong, comprehensive, up-to-date and well supported by current research, fieldwork and publications.

WikiNigeria is a 'think-tank'-like product that would apply the best scholarly practice to produce reference material meeting the highest standards.

WikiNigeria will be available to the public in two versions : 1) a wiki version submitted to the public for revisions and changes through the Wikipedia platform and 2) a stable document in PDF format, updated once yearly, and accessible on web platforms related to IFRA-Nigeria.

Proposed Framework of Entries

1. Background : synthetic and straight to the point
2. Recent developments / best quantitative and qualitative available data in a synthetic form
3. Major current issues / questions arising from recent developments
4. Prospective comments
5. Stakeholders (Limited to 10 / Individuals, academics, public & private organizations...)
6. Short Bibliography (non more than 15 titles, 5 weblinks, 5 multimedia resources (films, audio, video etc...)

Rules

1. WikiNigeria is a collaborative project that produces entries reviewed annually.
2. The minimum requirement for a new contributors is to hold, at minima, a Master degree and to be a specialist of the entry under review.
3. The moderate use of graphs, figures, photographs, statistical data is encouraged, as long as it strongly relates to the analysis
4. Entries should be between 10000 and 15000 words, excluding spaces and punctuation, but including references ;
5. Contributions will be submitted for critical review by two or more anonymous reviewers, also specialists of the subject. The Director of IFRA or his representative will serve as a moderator. Reviewers will provide comments to the contributor and assess feedback to their comments. Entries can be sent back to the contributors as many times as necessary. The Moderator will have the final say as far as the publication of the entry is concerned. Completed entries will be published online and a limited number of hardcopies will be printed as WikiNigeria Papers and made available to the public. An entry will have the status of a peer-reviewed article.
6. IFRA-Nigeria will be sourcing funds to provide contributors and reviewers with modest research funding which amount will be fixed by the steering committee yearly on the basis of available funding and expected outcomes.
7. A WikiNigeria steering committee of 8 members will be established to coordinate and manage the project. The Director of IFRA will chair the committee. Membership to the WikiNigeria will be on a voluntary basis. There will be no financial compensation for any expenses related to the participation to meetings.
8. WikiNigeria aims at publishing between 10 and 20 entries each year for four years.
